Daniel Falk
"Whatever you do, or dream you can, begin it, boldness has genius, power and magic in it" (Goethe)...How can people achieve greatness, in their lives and the world? What are you doing today to improve the quality of something? ...are you having a good time? If not, do something you love. Smile and have a satisfying, productive day!

Creative Approach and Technique

My drawings explore micro-landscapes of my nostalgic-imaginative process. They are mini-vignettes that appear as neural pathways and organic matter down to the cellular level. Many stories and scenes capture movement and interaction. Recognizable shapes (sometimes funny/odd characters) pop out, stretching and blending with each other to form a landscape full of cryptic communication, organic "intertwination" and other psycho-biochemical goodness. It's a fun and revealing process. The pen and pencil's intensity produces a range of shapes, textures, light levels and contrast. The type of paper influences the outcome, since the pressure on the pen or pencil determines line strength. I use a medium to heavy weight paper. A light, yet rapid brushing motion with varying pressure creates detailed shapes and shading. This is a very meditative process, and each piece takes about 25 to 50 hours to complete. I begin mainly without pre-determined or even pencil-sketched ideas of a set or known image, rather, I'm interested in spontaneous designs that flow from unfettered interactions between mind-imagination, hand and paper.

Computer proficiency:

-Photoshop, Illustrator, Bridge, Aperture, Garage Band, iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD.
-Logic, for film scoring and other audio compositions.
